How to Style Handmade Egyptian Glass in Modern Homes

Modern homes deserve objects with a story, not just decoration. Every MISHKAH piece carries a thousand years of Cairo in it — and still sits comfortably on a contemporary shelf.

One piece can turn a shelf into a statement, and a room into a story.

1. The minimalist shelf

If your rooms are calm and pared back, let the glass be the only ornament. Choose clear glass with a fine line of gold, or a single soft colour — blush, smoke, honey amber.

Place it on a marble surface, a floating shelf, or beside something natural: stone, linen, unfinished wood. The gold catches light without asking for attention.

2. The collected corner

For rooms with more colour and character, group rather than isolate. Three or five pieces on a tray or a mirrored base, mixed in height and tone — the reflections do the work.

Dried stems or incense beside them finish the arrangement.

3. The vanity

Perfume deserves better than the box it came in. Set a hand-blown bottle beside your fragrances and the daily ritual changes character.

Fired 24-karat gold and a form no mould could make will lift any vanity — and unlike a display piece, this one is used every morning.

4. Room by room

  • Living room: one larger vase or lantern near candles or art books.
  • Bathroom: smaller bottles with folded linen or oils.
  • Bedroom: a single gilded piece by the mirror — quiet, and enough.
  • Dining table: candlesticks in graduated heights, lit. This is what the glass was made for.

5. As a gift

Hand-blown glass makes a difficult thing easy: a gift that is clearly personal without being presumptuous.

Every piece arrives boxed, with complimentary wrapping, and insured — replaced free if it arrives damaged. No two are alike, so no one else will have given the same thing.
